Why does my business needs a website?
- Deliver your advertising message to millions of people all over
the world.
- Your website is available for access by anybody who is connected
to the Internet 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
- You don’t have to answer repetitive questions from your
customers – they can find them on your page at their convenience.
- You can use photographs, video and audio in order to make your
information clearer to your audience – for example a hotel
may make a virtual tour of the facilities – a picture says
more than a thousand words.

Can I design my own website?
If you would like to take website design into your own hands we
can help here too. There are several authoring tools such as Microsoft
FrontPage, which allow editing of web pages. This however requires
time and knowledge. We can provide you with individual training
lessons charged at an hourly rate. You would have to purchase:
· Software for editing/developing your website
· Domain name – a name for your website i.e. www.aheinze.co.uk
· Hosting space – this is necessary so that your website
is stored on a computer that anyone can access
Alternatives are also available where you can edit your website
online, see the packages from www.oneandone.co.uk

Why should I use a professional designer?
Website designers can generally incorporate all your ideas into
your website. Professional web designers can also advise you on
several issues including website usability, accessibility etc. Based
on the experience of the last decade, websites tend to obey certain
unwritten rules that help website users – i.e. your customers
to find the relevant products and information for them. It is paramount
that the users can find their way through the website. Your designer
will incorporate all possible techniques in order to make your website
navigation easy. These can be achieved by providing amongst other
things:
- Progressive disclosure – users see a summary and then
can read more if they want detailed information.
- Home page – enables users to go to the starting point
of the website
- Bread Crumbs – quick links which indicate the position
of the user within the overall website. This is usually used on
web pages with over ten pages.
Navigation bar should have a maximum of 5 to 9 items (otherwise
increased information overload)
- Links within text should always stand out and be recognisable
- Image buttons should always be recognisable (i.e. using shading
and roll over effects)
- The user should always be able to answer the following questions:
Where have I been?
Where can I go? Where am I now?

How do we approach the development
process?
We develop websites based on the spiral model – which basically
requires your input throughout the development process. You are
presented with prototypes on which you comment and we proceed based
on your feedback. The reason for this approach is the simple fact
that it is impossible to create a product, which is perfect the
first time.

What is required to start the process?
Upon receipt of graphics, text and initial non-refundable deposit
of £20 the project can commence.

How can I promote my website?
There are a number of ways for advertising your website online.
Generally it is not advisable to pay yearly charges to companies
who promise to advertise your website on their directory. Pay Per
Click is one of the most cost effective online marketing options,
which you could explore. Most of the reputable search engines and
directories offer such options, in which case you only pay for the
real clicks. Please speak to us to find out more about this.
